April Block of the Month:Friendship Star Variation Supplies: In addition to Jelley roll or pre-cut strips, bring a sewing machine, and basic sewing supplies, an iron and ironing surface is helpful, and may be shared.
Don't forget your extension cords and /or strip outlets.
Pot Luck lunch --- bring one favorite pot luck dish to share. This can be a main dish, a side dish, a salad, dessert. Let's not all bring sweets and potato chips.
We will be meeting at the Jacksonville Center, at the usual time, 10:00am.
If you want to play BINGO, the price is a Fat Quarter for each block you play. You may "rent" a block to play for another FQ.
If you don't want to pay the rent, make a block according to these directions Blue Ridge Quilt Festival The largest quilt show in SWVA offers an extensive quilt and wearable exhibit, two Special Exhibits ("The River Runs Through It" and "Vinescapes"), a large vendor mall, workshops and Friday night lecture. Featured Quilt Artist: Annette Kennedy from Colorado. Other instructors include Susan Brittingham, Debby Kratovil, Karen Dumont, Barbara Cline, and Paula Golden. Door prizes, Raffle quilt, Viewers Choice, and hand made ribbons round up a great show experience.

Programs from 2004 Photos from 2003 2003 Christmas Party Photos from our July 7, 2003 meeting with guest speaker Linda Cantrell As her lecture began, Linda gave us tips April 2003 Love Quilt Programs from 2002 Visit the Love Quilt workshop, lead by Becky Farnham, which took place on September 9, 2002. At our August 19, 2002 meeting our speakers were Liz Schwartz and Stephen Seifert of Zippy Designs. Your place in a workshop is secured once you pay the workshop fee. A minimum number of paid registrations must be reached before a
commitment will be made to the instructor. There will be a deadline for this decision. If the workshop is not held for lack of registrations, all class fees will be
returned to those members having paid. Once the commitment is made to the instructor to hold the workshop, no refunds can be given. However, you are free to sell
your space to another person. Please make out all checks to the Old Church Gallery Quilters Guild. Thank you.

We began the UFO fun Challenge. To participate you need to bring a list of four UFO's that you would like to finish and
two fat quarters to throw into the prize pot. Number the UFO's on your list from 1-4. Approximately every two months we pick a number
and work on that project. Finish the project by its due date and you will be eligible for prizes. Fail to finish and you owe another Fat Quarter.
UFO=UnFinished Object. The projects on the list should be "vintage" in other words you should not have done any work on the project for 6 months or more.

Field trip to Heartwood
Heartwood is located on US 1 Business, Abingdon, VA, at exit 14 off I-81 south.
It was decided to meet at 11:00 am at Heartwood. Please arrange your own carpools.
We will tour Heartwood and have lunch. On the way home there will be a stop at Batiks Etc. and Sew What Fabrics in Wytheville, VA (right off I-77)

Love Quilt Workshop: Jelly Roll Race
Bring a precut Jelly Roll or cut your own from your fabric stash. Sewing machine and Basic Sewing supplies required.
To cut your own: Cut 2-1/2" strips from the width of your fabric. If you are cutting full fabric widths, cut 40 strips (suggested). For strips that are not a full 40" wide, cut more.
It is suggested that you sew your strips end to end along the narrow edges before the workshop. This is done with a diagonal seam as if you were joining binding strips.
